Our members and students can be found in over 35 countries around the world. 

International Students

If you are keen to develop and demonstrate your ethical, professional and technical banking knowledge you can study for our qualifications anywhere in the world through distance learning.  Please contact Peter Moir, Senior Learning and Development Manager (peter@charterebanker.com) for details, stating which qualification(s) you are interested in and your current educational level.

Online and/or paper-based examinations can be organized in most international locations through the British Council and similar bodies. Please note that additional fees may be payable.

CIOBS is proud to work with banks, banking institutes, training providers and other organizations worldwide to raise professional standards in the banking industry. 

Bahamas

Members of the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services may become International Affiliate Members of CIOBS and access our online library and training materials.

Europe

We are an active member of the European Bank Training Network, which brings together more than 40 banking institutes to share best practice and develop a common European approach to developing professional competence in the banking industry. 

Egypt

We have an agreement with the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) to offer professional qualifications to individuals in Egypt and to develop joint qualifications with the EBI.

Hong Kong

As a result of a mutual recognition agreement with the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, AHKIB holders can gain Chartered Banker status by passing examinations in Professionalism & Ethics and UK Financial Services. For futher details, please click here.

We also work with the Success Institute in Hong Kong to offer the Chartered Banker Fast Track Accountancy Conversion Course to qualified accounting professionals in the territory. Please click here for more details.

Ireland

Chartered Banker status may be gained by individuals completing the Graduate Diploma in Financial Services, offered by the Institute of Bankers in Ireland (IOBI) and awarded by University College Dublin. To become a Chartered Banker, an individual must:

• Successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Financial Services

• Have at least three years relevant work experience in banking or financial services, and

• Agree to participate in the IOBI’s CPD Programme for Chartered Bankers.

Omega Performance

We have accredited Omega Performance’s Credit Skills Development (CSD) programme.  Successful completion of the CSD enables individuals to acquire an Advanced Diploma in Credit, and three credits towards the flagship Chartered Banker professional designation.

Opportunity International provides microfinance services, including lending, savings and insurance, in many parts of the world. CIOBS is proud to support the work of Opportunity International in Africa, and to provide banking qualifications to Opportunity International staff.
