How does the scheme work?

  • Internal development activity will account for 30 hours of an individual’s full CPD requirement of 35 hours. The remaining 5 hours [including completion of the Professionalism and Ethics element] will need to be undertaken by the individual through completion of items suggested in the ‘About CPD- How does it work?’ section.
  • The individual will be responsible for ensuring that they have undertaken sufficient development through the Employer scheme and that this has been supplemented to include 5 additional hours of CPD.
  • Recording of the remaining 5 hours of CPD activity will be the responsibility of the individual member and will, therefore, be on a self certified basis.

If you leave an Employer who participates in the Approved Employer Scheme, you will require to complete your CPD activity for the year on a pro rata basis dependent upon the number of completed months which you were employed in the year of departure. In the majority of cases, a new role will offer sufficient development opportunities to fulfil any remaining requirement.

“We rely on the broad range of skills that the Institute provides.”
