On the right track

Bangor Business School, in partnership with the Chartered Banker Institute, continues to offer its Chartered Banker MBA and provides other options to access the qualification. It’s all part of a steadfast commitment to Continuing Professional Development.

Our lives are getting busier and there is no doubt that we all feel we have less time on our hands. However, we also recognise that some key priorities are so important that they must take precedence. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is one such priority.

The whole question of being able to continually update our skill set and stay abreast of the key trends and best practices in our industry is vitally important to all business people, but this is particularly significant in the banking sector where reputations and brands have taken a big confidence hit following the banking crisis-led global recession.

The press continue to question banking’s credibility and its ethical standards, and there is no doubt that a focus on relevant qualifications for the banking sector can help us demonstrate that we are serious about doing the right thing.

Bangor Business School, the UK’s number one business school for accounting and finance, including Banking, in partnership with the Chartered Banker Institute, launched The Chartered Banker MBA in 2011 to provide a new global “gold standard” for the banking industry – and it has proved very popular and successful in meeting students’ needs.

The content is designed to deliver practical and contemporary content to aid executives and managers in making sense of the holistic nature of bank management. It responds directly to the increasing global demand to develop and sustain responsible professionalism in global banking. It also allows professionals to gain the dual credibility stamp of a top MBA in Banking and Finance, and “Chartered Banker” status.

As Lord Davies, former government minister and chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, explains, this MBA for the global banking industry “combines the high level skills and professional competencies that will be increasingly necessary for the post-crisis banking environment”.

New routes for 2012
Not everyone can commit to a two-year, 12 modules-blended learning Masters programme. We are all increasingly time-pressured. The answer, for some, is to be able to access the accelerated entry routes open to existing Chartered Bankers or holders of a recognised MBA. For others, there is a brand new option for 2012 involving committing to a certificate or diploma entry point (four or eight modules respectively).

There is even the option of just taking one module at a time and using the learning as part of your CPD regime. Entry for these new routes is assessed in the same way as entry onto the full MBA programme and you will be able to “top up” to the full MBA programme within agreed timescales if you wish to do so.

Bangor Business School is so confident of these new study routes that it is offering scholarships for UK students wishing to enrol in April 2012. The scholarship amount will be dependent on the study route you choose.

Contact the CBMBA Team today to discuss which study route is right for you and to find out if you are eligible for a scholarship.
