Deloitte Financial Services Rising Star Awards 2012

An exciting opportunity for emerging talent in the financial services industry from the Institute, supported by Deloitte.

Are you this year's financial services Rising Star?
Every year, the very best emerging talent the industry has to offer is recognised and rewarded in the Deloitte Financial Services Rising Star Awards.

Nominations for 2012 are now open.  Following the recent launch of the Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board (CB:PSB), we are delighted to announce that this year's competition will seek to identify star performers displaying the qualities of customer-focussed, ethical professionalism the CB:PSB has set out in its Code of Professional Conduct.

So in addition to being a star performer, we are looking for individuals who exhibit and promote the professional values the CB:PSB and the Chartered Banker Institute are working to enhance and sustain across our industry, and specifically those acting as role models for ethical professionalism within their organisations.

We are seeking nominations from across the banking and financial services sector for Rising Stars who meet the eligibility criteria.

The winner gains industry-wide recognition as a high potential individual with a great future ahead of them. In addition, there is a first prize of an overseas holiday for two and prizes for three runners up.

We look forward to hearing from you – good luck!

Competition Process
The search for the Rising Star of 2012 begins with the Institute seeking nominations from the banking and financial services industry. Nominations are accepted from Members, Fellows and all financial services organisations, while self-nominations are also welcome.

Following the nomination deadline of 15 June, the nominations will be reviewed by Institute judges and the best eight nominees will be invited to make a short presentation on their nomination and participate in an interview before the Institute judges at a private semi-final session. A shortlist of four nominees will be selected to present at a live final before an invited audience. The presentations will be on a theme determined by the Institute and Deloitte. The live final will include video interviews with the finalists, coupled with a live presentation on the given theme.

Eligibility Criteria
If you or a colleague have demonstrated exceptional performance and can fulfil the following criteria, please submit a nomination form today:

  • The nominee should be employed in a bank, building society or other financial services organisation. The nominee is not required to be a member of the Institute.
  • The nominee should be willing and available to participate in the semi-final and live final presentations, should they be selected.
  • The nominee and their sponsor should be willing to participate in the filming of video shots and other preparatory work for the live final.

Nominations Process
The Institute will accept nominations in the following two ways:

  • Nomination by Sponsor
We will accept nominations from Fellows, Members and Banks for those who meet the eligibility criteria and are considered to be a rising star by their sponsor. The sponsor should complete the attached nomination form and return it to the Institute with a copy of the nominee's current CV. The Sponsor should also complete a short statement of no more than 500 words explaining the reasons for the nomination.

OR

  • Self-nomination
To ensure that the Institute captures as many nominations as possible, candidates who meet the criteria and have difficulty in securing a sponsor can submit a nomination form on their own behalf for the competition. Those entering through this route should complete the nomination form and submit a written statement of no more than 750 words explaining the reasons for their self-nomination. They should also submit a current CV.
Nomination Criteria
In nominating a person, the sponsor is indicating that he/she thinks the nominee is a high achiever, having shown the ability to perform at the highest level in his/her current role, but is also building a career of outstanding potential with a view to emerge as one of the future leaders of the financial services industry.

This potential may be evidenced by the candidate having made an outstanding contribution to their organisation through exceptional performance in the areas detailed on the nomination form.

The list of reasons for nomination is virtually endless and these guidelines only provide a flavour of the types of exceptional performances that sponsors may wish to consider in making a nomination.

How to Enter
Please complete the nomination form and supporting statement and return it by post to the Institute (details below). A pdf version of the full brochure and nomination form is available by clicking here.

A Word version of the form can be downloaded here and emailed to martin@charteredbanker.com. You can also make an online submission here. In all cases, the form should be accompanied by the nominee’s current CV.
