What is RDR?

The Financial Services launched the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) to give consumers greater confidence and trust in the retail investment market. From 31 December 2012 the new rules mean:

  • Clearer charges: as investment advisers must agree charges upfront,
  • Clearer services: advisers must make it clear which areas and products they can advise on; and
  • More professional advice: advisers must hold an appropriate qualification, sign up to an ethical code and complete compulsory continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.

The regulations apply to all advisers, who must hold a Statement of Professional Standing (SPS).

Solutions

We have worked with a number of experienced partners to develop a series of tailored solutions designed to help those working in the sector make a successful transition to the new standards. You can find out more by selecting the relevant link:

The Institute’s fast track route to the Diploma in Investment Planning closed to new entrants in June 2012. Those that have not yet completed their studies will have until 28 February 2013 to do so or will be invited to re-apply for study of the standard programme.
