The past few months have delivered a perfect storm of ongoing change, which, for some has resulted in uncertainty, financial concerns, health worries, general anxiety and fear. These worries are fuelled daily by the updates we read, see and hear. Even those of us who have never suffered from stress and anxiety have felt overwhelmed at times, because life feels very different.

The psychological impact on mental health from the current pandemic is forecast to be enormous, however the ability to engage resilience and reduce stress will ease this and enable us to navigate the most challenging times we have faced in decades.

Resilience can be developed. More resilient people "roll with the punches" and adapt to adversity, by perceiving the bad times as temporary. Those who deal with minor stresses usually manage major crises better, so resilience has its benefits for daily challenges, as well as major upheaval.  Being resilient strengthens the inner mental core of confidence, and self-belief, uses adversity to power personal growth, and perceives bad times as a temporary state of affairs.
