Tobacco Exclusions and Net Zero
Thi event is hosted by the Tobacco Free Portfolios and the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI).
Join Tobacco Free Portfolios and the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI) to explore the relationship between excluding tobacco and achieving net zero in finance on Thursday 28th October from 10:00-11:00 EST / 15:00-16:00 BST / 16:00-17:00 CET.
The public health arguments against investing in tobacco are well known: it is famously the only product that kills two out of every three consumers when used exactly as intended.
But, as we head towards the COP26 summit in Glasgow, another impact of cutting out tobacco is worth highlighting: making it easier to reach Net Zero.
There are myriad links between tobacco and the environment, from its impact on deforestation, to the physical burning of tobacco products, to the 4.5 trillion filters thrown out as plastic waste each year. At this event, our speakers will explore the arguments for excluding tobacco from their portfolios and share their experiences doing so.
