How it Works

The Chartered Banker Mentoring Scheme is available to all Institute members, and is a unique opportunity to help fellow members.

Mentors

If you are a member of the Chartered Banker Institute, and are interested in mentoring other members, please complete this form to register your interest. We welcome applications from all levels, from members at the start of their career to experienced professionals. Once we have received and checked your submission, we will add your name and LinkedIn page to Find a Mentor. Mentees will then be advised how to contact you directly via LinkedIn, by sending a request to connect with an accompanying introduction. All mentees will have been checked for eligibility by the Institute before they contact you. If you would like to check an individual's eligibility you can email mentoring@charteredbanker.com

As a mentor, your primary goal is to provide guidance and support to your mentee. The responsibility of managing the relationship is between the mentor and the mentee.

From the successful mentoring relationships, we currently have in place it has been identified that a lot of the conversations have focused around career progression, networking, cv skills and interview advice.

Mentees

If you feel you would benefit from having a mentor to provide guidance with your career development, networking, cv skills or interview advice, you can register to Become a Mentee. Once the Institute has confirmed your eligibility to participate in the scheme, you can review mentors profiles, and contact those who best suits your requirements and development, through our Find a Mentor page. To help facilitate mentoring pairings at the time of registration you will be asked to provided answers to three basic questions to establish who would be a potential good match. The information will be shared with mentors and for those who can offer assistant, an e-introduction can be made.

As a mentee, your primary role is to identify the goals, skills and knowledge you want to achieve and communicate these to your mentor. Once a working agreement has been made the Institute will not participate in the mentee/mentor relationship.
