Certificate in Green and Sustainable Finance

Managing climate-related risks and supporting the transition to a low-carbon world are our most significant global challenges. In order to tackle this collective challenge, finance professionals globally need to develop their knowledge of green and sustainable Finance.

This global, benchmark qualification will help individuals to develop their understanding of, and apply, green and sustainable finance principles and practice in their roles and within their institutions.  

Available Subsidies

If you are a ‘Singapore Citizen’ or ‘Singapore Permanent Resident’ and physically based in Singapore, you may be eligible for 80% to 90% of the course fees to be refunded by the Institute of Banking and Finance, Singapore.

Dates 

This is for courses that commence on or after 1 January 2022, up to 30 June 2022, and are completed no later than 30 September 2022: 

  • 80% of course fees will be subsidised.  
  • Aged 40 and above - 90% of course fees will be subsidised.   

The amount you will be funded is:

  • 80% of £565 course cost which is £452 OR
  • 90% of £565 course cost which is £508.50 (over 40s only) 

If you commence before 30 June 2022, but do not complete by 30 September, you will be able to claim 70% of the course cost – £395.50.

For courses that commence on or after 1 July 2022,  there is currently no deadline to this until further notice:

  • 70% of course fees will be subsidised.  
  • Aged 40 and above - 90% of course fees will be subsidised.   

The amount you will be funded is:

  • 70% of £565 course cost which is £395.50 OR
  • 90% of £565 course cost which is £508.50 (over 40s only) 

The IBF do no subsidise the £30 membership cost. 

Please enter your NRIC number and the word ‘Citizen’ or ‘Resident’ in the ‘employer number’ field in your application form.  If you are eligible, we will then apply for the subsidy to be refunded to you.  You must link your NRIC to their PayNow bank account to facilitate disbursement by IBF.   Please allow for up to 4 months for disbursement.

Employer Sponsored Registrations

Your employer may also claim back the subsidy themselves. 

There is benefit your employer claiming the subsidy themselves, as they can also claim a Training Allowance Grant (TAG) - where the IBF will pay the company 10 SGD per training hour. 

I.E.  

  • Certificate in Green and Sustainable Finance (131 hour course) they can also claim $1,310 per person 

Organisations must be registered in Singapore.  Employers can check their eligibility on the IBF website here

The TAG applies to IBF recognised courses that commence on or after 1 July 2021 till, up to 30 June 2022, and must be completed no later than 30 September 2022. 

If you would like your employer to claim back the subsidy, please enter the word ‘Employer Sponsored’ in the Employee Number field within you application.  (Do not enter your NRIC and the words Resident or Citizen.)

To apply for the course under the IBF-STS subsidy programme, when you complete the application form you MUST:

·         Enter your name as stated on your NRIC.

·         Provide your NRIC number – please enter this in the Staff number field, which is in section 3 About Your Employer. You must put the letters NRIC before the number e.g. NRICS1234567A.  Please also add the word Citizen (if you are a Singapore Citizen) or Resident (if you are a Permanent Resident).  e.g. NRICS1234567A Citizen or NRICS1234567A Resident.

 

IBF Certification

IBF Certification is an industry endorsed mark of quality for finance professionals in Singapore. Individuals who successfully complete an eligible IBF-Standards Training Scheme ("IBF-STS") accredited training and assessment programme and meet the relevant criteria may apply for IBF Certification.

This course addresses the following Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) and proficiency level:

Skills Category: E. Investment and Financial Management

Skills and Competencies:  E15 Environment and Social Governance

Proficiency: Level 3

Participants are encouraged to access the IBF MySkills Portfolio to track their training progress and skills acquisition against the Skills Framework for Financial Services. You can apply for IBF Certification after fulfilling the required number of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) for the selected job role.
