Judith Cruickshank Awarded Honorary Fellowship at Edinburgh Finance Festival
Edinburgh, 17 September 2025.
The Chartered Banker Institute is proud to announce that Judith Cruickshank has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her outstanding contributions to banking and financial services.
The award was presented by Giles Cuthbert, Managing Director of the Institute, during the Celebration Evening of the inaugural Edinburgh Finance Festival, held at the historic Banking Hall of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The event brought together over 50 organisations from across the financial sector to celebrate the depth and diversity of financial services in Scotland.
Judith Cruickshank is a powerful advocate for responsible banking. Through her leadership roles at NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland, and her wider work supporting financial capability, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, Judith has consistently demonstrated a deep belief in the positive role banking can play in people’s lives. Her commitment to connection, community, and helping individuals build the confidence and skills to manage their financial futures reflects values that align closely with the Institute’s purpose.
Honorary Fellowship is the highest accolade awarded by the Chartered Banker Institute, reserved for individuals who have made a lasting impact on the profession. Judith’s recognition comes at a particularly significant moment, as the Institute celebrates its 150th anniversary. Founded in Edinburgh in 1875, the Chartered Banker Institute was the first professional body of its kind in the world. Today, it supports members in over 100 countries, championing professionalism, integrity, and trust across the global banking sector.
The Celebration Evening also featured opening remarks from Judith and contributions from organisations marking major milestones, including ICAS, the David Hume Institute, Social Investment Scotland, Morgan Stanley, and the Global Ethical Finance Initiative.
The Edinburgh Finance Festival runs from 15–26 September 2025 and offers a dynamic programme of events bringing together professionals, policymakers, and academics to explore the future of finance.
