Commercial Director

Location: Edinburgh or Remote (UK-based)

Fulltime: 32 hours per week Mon - Thursday 9am - 5.00pm Friday 9am - 1pm

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Commercial Director is responsible for delivering sustainable revenue growth through the agreed core strategic markets and delivery channels of the Institute. The role leads commercial strategy and market development to support the Institute’s purpose and mission. The Chartered Banker Institute is seeking a dynamic and commercially minded individual to lead our commercial strategy, expand our partnerships, and enhance our market presence. In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Deliver commercial targets across UK and International markets and partnerships.
  • Support growth and retention of membership.
  • Develop pricing models, campaign strategies, and partnership frameworks to diversify income.
  • Launch co-created professionalism products and services with strategic banking clients.
  • Expand international market reach and secure strategic alliances.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key client partners.
  • Collaboratively support development of region-specific qualifications and content.
  • Implement activity-based budgeting and multi-year forecasting.
  • Conduct cost-to-serve analysis with CFO and have a strong understanding of competitor landscape.
  • Elevate brand authority through media partnerships and thought leadership.
  • Generate inbound leads and increase brand awareness in priority markets.
  • Build and lead a high-performing commercial team.
  • Embed a commercially literate culture across the Institute.
  • Deliver commercial performance reviews to the CEO and Board.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Substantial experience in financial services, ideally in retail or commercial banking with an understanding of banking strategy.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and financial literacy.
  • Proven track record in revenue growth, market expansion, and product innovation.
  • Collaborative leader with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in banking or financial services is preferred.
  • Data-driven and results-oriented.
  • Passionate about education and professional standards
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities, ideally operating across complex organisations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Relevant professional banking qualification (desirable).

This is a flexible role that can be based in our Edinburgh office or remotely from anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel to Edinburgh.

What We'll Offer:

  • £60,000 to £65,000 Salary based on experience

The Chartered Banker Institute, the world’s oldest professional banking institute, is looking for a Design and Delivery Consultant to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality, learner-centred digital resources that support our qualifications and professional development programmes. You’ll use tools like Articulate Storyline, RISE, Adobe Creative Suite, and more to bring learning to life.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop interactive eLearning and digital content
  • Use authoring tools and Adobe Creative Suite to create engaging materials
  • Integrate multimedia elements (audio, video, graphics) into learning solutions
  • Support and troubleshoot our Learning Management System
  • Ensure quality assurance and gather learner feedback
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver exceptional learning experiences

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in eLearning design and development
  • Proficiency with tools like Evolve, Adapt, Storyline, RISE, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Ability to use graphic design and video creation
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles
  • A curious, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation
