Understanding how to get the best out of your workforce

Event Details

After the great success of our last joint event with ICAEW Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University we are delighted to be hosting another event together.

By 2020 the generation born between 1980 and 2000, will comprise more than 50% of the UK workforce. Often referred to as Millennials, or Gen Y, and often with negative connotations, this event aims to unpick the generational disconnect.

Research suggests that a significant generational divide exists between millennials and their older colleagues. Attitudinal differences around flexibility, recognising achievement, business ethics and management styles can result in a headache in the form of poor communication and retention for organisations and businesses.

In this session, Fiona Dearing (Senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University MSc Accounting and Finance, ACMA,CGMA,PGCE) will highlight how Millennials are an asset to your business, and how adapting to their needs is the key for success in attracting and retaining them.  We will look at:

  • The Brexit effect
  • Why freelancing might be the way forward?
  • Driving their entrepreneurial spirit
  • Reverse Mentoring
  • The impact of digital trends
