Event Details

This is a joint event with the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and the Global Ethical Finance Initiative in which an expert panel will discuss the future of ESG investment. The discussion will cover where we are now with ESG and what industry participants are looking for.

The panel will analyse challenges to the integrity of ESG and Sustainable investing that typically have been directed to policy makers, analysts, and investment companies, as will the question of disconnect between what investment clients want, what investment managers are focussed on, and what would have a genuine impact on society.

The panel discussion will be open to questions from the audience, which will bring together investment consultants, investment managers, ethical finance experts, finance students and academic researchers to discuss what is needed to ensure ESG investing doesn’t become a vanity project with little added value.

Panellists:

  • Dr Luca Taschini (Chair), Reader in Carbon Finance, University of Edinburgh Business School
  • Callum Stewart, Head of DC Investment, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Hymans Robertson
  • Amanda Young, Chief Sustainability Officer, CFA UK, Abrdn
  • Omar Shaikh, Co-founder and Managing Director, Global Ethical Finance Initiative
