Chartered Banker Institute Awards Honorary Fellowship to Stuart Haire
Edinburgh, 26 September 2025
As part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, the Chartered Banker Institute is proud to announce that Stuart Haire, Chief Executive of Skipton Group, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contribution to the banking profession.
Stuart Haire’s career spans senior roles at HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, and now Skipton Group. Stuart has been recognised for leadership that reflects a deep commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and customer-focused financial institution. Under his guidance, the Skipton Group has prioritised financial education, access to impartial advice, and professional development — values that closely align with the Chartered Banker Institute’s mission to promote responsible banking and lifelong learning.
On receiving the Honorary Fellowship, Stuart commented:
“It’s a real honour to receive this recognition from the Chartered Banker Institute, especially during its 150th anniversary celebrations. Banking has always been about trust, skills, and service — values my father believed in deeply and passed on to me. While my path began in science and engineering, I’ve been fortunate to build a career in financial services shaped by those same principles. I’m proud to be part of a profession that continues to evolve while staying true to its purpose.”
Stuart is the third individual to formally receive an Honorary Fellowship from the Chartered Banker Institute in 2025 as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, and the only the sixth in its history. Over the next three years, the Institute will award 150 Honorary Fellowships to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the banking profession, reflect the values at the heart of the Institute’s mission, and will serve as advocates as the Institute enters its next chapter.
On presenting Stuart with his award, Tanya Retter, Chief Executive, Chartered Banker Institute said:
“Stuart exemplifies the values we seek to recognise through our Honorary Fellowships, integrity, leadership, and a commitment to serving customers and communities. It was a privilege to present this award as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations, and we look forward to Stuart’s continued advocacy for responsible banking.”
The Institute congratulates Stuart on this well-deserved honour and looks forward to supporting him as an Honorary Fellow (HonFCBI) as we continue working together to promote responsible banking across the sector.
