Diploma in Professional Financial Advice

The Diploma in Professional Financial Advice is awarded by the Institute and delivered in collaboration with Calibrand, a specialist provider of education and testing for financial services. 

This is a high quality, flexible qualification that meets the qualification requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority for those who wish to provide regulated financial advice in the UK. 

Key Facts 

Units one - five cost £160 per unit and unit six costs £180. All fees include learning materials and an examination attempt. 

All learners are required to be members of the Institute at a cost of £60 for 12 months. 

Distance Learning
The Diploma in Professional Financial Advice can be studied on a distance-learning basis, allowing you to control the location and pace of your studies.

Module exams are in "short answer" case study format and are undertaken in closed book examination conditions. Examination venues are available throughout the UK. You must score 60% to be awarded a pass.

There are six compulsory units, which cover the range of financial advice areas. Unit one is designed to set the scene for the environment in which advisory firms operate, whilst units two-five consider in detail the key areas of consumer needs in terms of financial advice. Unit six brings together the learning from all modules in order to develop the ability to provide holistic financial advice.

There are no requirements for prior educational attainment, noting that the level of study is broadly equivalent to the initial stage of a UK undergraduate degree and requires approximately 390 hours of learning, typically studied over 12 months.
