Simon Taylor awarded Honorary Fellowship from the Chartered Banker Institute
Simon Taylor, Chief Executive of Melton Building Society and Chair of the Building Societies Association, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Banker Institute in recognition of his long-standing contribution to banking and financial services, including his leadership and advocacy for the UK's building societies.
With more than 30 years experience, Simon has built a reputation as a strong advocate for customer-focused banking and the role financial institutions can play in supporting customers and communities. Throughout his career, he has championed initiatives that help people access home ownership, improve financial wellbeing and benefit from trusted, relationship-based financial services.
Since joining Melton Building Society as Chief Executive in 2020, Simon has led the organisation through a period of growth and development while maintaining a clear focus on delivering positive outcomes for members and customers. As Chair of the Building Societies Association, he has also played an important role in promoting the contribution of building societies to the UK's financial services landscape and encouraging greater collaboration across the profession.
Prior to joining Melton Building Society, Simon served as Chief Operating Officer at Nottingham Building Society and held a number of senior leadership positions with Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays. Alongside his professional achievements, he has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, holding an MBA from the University of Bradford and completing Advanced Strategic Management studies at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

As part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, the Chartered Banker Institute is awarding Honorary Fellowships to a select group of individuals whose leadership, influence and contribution have helped shape banking and financial services, advanced professionalism, and strengthened public trust in the profession.
