The pandemic is still impacting the lives of many across the globe. Health concerns, changes to the way we work and financial worries, plus many other factors, have contributed to a rise in anxiety and depressive disorders.

Due to societal inequality, these issues have deeply affected those who were already facing considerable challenges.

To coincide with World Mental Health Day 2022, the Institute will continue to discuss the issues affecting those already struggling, as well as banking professionals. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘mental health in an unequal world’. Following on from our previous discussions on Mental Health whereby we’ve explored the pressures brought on by working life, the pandemic, loneliness and many more surrounding issues, we are delighted to work with the Bank Worker’s Charity to deliver a workshop led by Paul Barrett, Head of Wellbeing.

During this workshop, Paul will share his knowledge on the importance of Financial Wellbeing. Attendees to this workshop will gain insight into how we can support ourselves and others to cope with the pressures facing finance professionals during a cost of living crisis.

Key topics:

  • Understanding financial wellbeing
  •  The reasons why many people are struggling
  •  The state of our personal finances in the cost-of-living crisis
  •  How financial wellbeing affects other areas of our wellbeing
  •  What leads people into financial difficulty
  • Some steps we can take to protect our finances
  • How the Bank Worker's Charity has helped people experiencing financial problems

A decade and more of slow wage growth, a long-lasting pandemic and a cost of living crisis that has seen inflation surge and energy costs soar, means that many households have seen their incomes  plummet. In these circumstances, maximising income and knowing what support is available, are key in navigating and reducing the impact of the cost of living hike.

This webinar looks at the state of personal finances in the UK. We’ll explore what we mean by financial wellbeing and how it links into other important areas of our wellbeing, like mental health. Paul will also look at some steps we can take to protect our finances and identify some key sources of support, including from the Bank Workers Charity.
