Your New CPD Scheme for 2026 – Flexible, Simple, and Designed for You
We’re excited to launch the Institute’s new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme this year - making it easier, more flexible, and more meaningful so you can stay ahead in today’s fast-changing banking world. CPD is your way to keep skills sharp and knowledge fresh.
Here is an overview of the 2026 CPD Scheme:
What’s New?
We’re moving to an outputs-based CPD scheme. That means:
- No set hours - focus on learning impact.
- Complete at least one ethics activity per year - professionalism matters.
- Tailored activities - choose what fits your goals.
- Reflect regularly - submit at least one reflective statement each year.
Who needs to do CPD?
If you’re a Certificated member, Associate, Chartered Member, or Fellow, CPD is part of your annual commitment. (Students and Affiliates are exempt but welcome to join in.)
Why It Matters
CPD is about taking ownership of your professional growth. It helps you:
- Build skills and confidence for your current role and future career.
- Align with NatWest’s customer-focused performance culture.
- Demonstrate professionalism and integrity to customers and colleagues.
- Improve performance and productivity through regular reflection.
Your CPD Cycle in 4 Steps:
- Set goals – Start with your current PDP goals and add any extras.
- Plan Activities – include ethics.
- Complete Learning – Mix planned and spontaneous activities.
- Record & Reflect – keep track of your learning (you can use Workday’s CPD Training Log). Think about what you have learned and submit an end-of-year reflection via the Institute’s website. We recommend submitting a mid-year reflection too (we’ll remind you about both).
Need more details? Check out our CPD guide for more information. We’ve also created a one page guide on What counts as CPD, and some examples of how to complete the reflective statement.
