With the financial services sector becoming increasingly complex, customers’ expectations becoming ever more sophisticated and disruptive technologies changing the landscape of the traditional banking model, what is on the horizon for the sector in this digital age?

Dentons, in conjunction with the Centre for Study of Financial Innovation (CSFI), is delighted to invite you to the first of its industry-recognised Horizon Brief events to be held in Scotland. Join us for a panel discussion with the following key speakers:

  • Sandra Alzetta: Sandra has been at the forefront of payments innovation for more than two decades. As a senior executive at VISA Europe, she rolled out chip and pin, e-commerce verification, contactless, mobile payments and wallet apps. She is now championing the digital asset revolution as Chief Product Officer at Koine Finance.
  • Rob Churcher: Rob is a FinTech investor (and former FinTech strategy lead) at PwC, which takes small equity stakes in exchange for giving start-ups advice. He is also a thought leadership author, keynote speaker and media commentator for the firm.
  • Sameer Gulati: Sameer is Head of Policy and Regulation at Innovate Finance, the membership body that represents the UK's FinTech sector. He manages the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on FinTech and leads Innovate Finance’s work to develop a national strategy for UK FinTech. Prior to Innovate Finance, Sameer was a researcher in financial inclusion and mobile payments in developing economies.
  • Tim Jones: Tim is promoter of the original Mondex card and a former head of retail banking at NatWest. Since then, he has developed several innovative digital payment systems (most recently, Tibado), has joined the board of a major algo-trading house and has revolutionised the UK pensions landscape as the first CEO of NEST.

The discussion will be moderated by Andrew Hilton, director and joint founder of the CSFI. Dr Hilton is a former World Bank economist and editor-in-chief of the International Reports group in New York. He has a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the Wharton School and an MA from New College, Oxford.
