Overview

The certificate aims to develop the learner’s knowledge of digital, AI, and automated banking and the role of Fintech, through four interactive e-learning units. Upon completion, the learner will have their knowledge and understanding recognised through the Certificate in Digital & AI Evolution in Banking.    

Designed as an SCQF Level 8 and broadly comparable to EQF Level 5, this qualification was created for bank employees at all levels globally, regardless of their own specialism. 

By undertaking this qualification, it will allow the individual to successfully understand the scope and evolution of digital and AI transformation in banking, describe a range of digital systems, products and models that operate in banking markets as well as identify key technology-based risks inherent in the commercial and operational aspects of AI and digital banking.  

Key themes covered in this qualification include how to appreciate the digital evolution that has, and is taking place in banking, to recognise the regulatory, social, and commercial responsibilities that impact this area of activity, and to understand the risks and benefits inherent in a reliance on technology. 

The Certificate in Digital & AI Evolution in Banking will support the learner in the development of a number of key skills which include:

Key facts
  • This qualification will support you in the development of a number of key skills, such as commercial awareness, cyber security, data literacy, digital literacy, leadership and influencing, problem solving and self-directed learning. 

  • Online course that offers both interactive and digital learning. 

  • The module costs £495 which includes your first exam entry fee. Exam resits cost £145 per module. 

  • In order to study the Certificate in Digital & AI Evolution in Banking qualification, you must become a member of the Institute. An annual subscription fee of £36.00 will be payable upon registration. 

  • Assessed by one online examination, lasting 60 minutes, and consisting of 40 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 60%. 

  • Registration is valid for 12 months. Learners are expected to sit and pass the examination within that time. 

  • Members will receive a digital certificate for this qualification via email usually within 5 days of successfully being awarded the qualification. To find out more about the new digital certificates, click here. 

Modules

The Certificate in Digital & AI Evolution in Banking qualification syllabus covers the below units:

  • Unit 1: Digital change in banking  

 Unit 1 discusses the effects of digital technology on banks, including the creation of new banks, covering both old (“legacy”) and new (“de novo”) systems used in typical banking functions. Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to explain the scope and evolution of digital and artificial intelligence (AI) transformation in banking.

  • Unit 2: Digital Banking Systems 

Unit 2 examines the various digital systems, products and models that banks use. Building on ideas from Unit 1, this unit digs deeper into the systems that support key banking functions. Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to describe a range of digital systems, products and models that operate in banking markets

  • Unit 3: Technology Risks in Digital Banking  

Unit 3 looks at the technology-based risks inherent in the commercial and operational aspects of digital banking, exploring both the uses of technology in risk management and technology’s potential to amplify risks. Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to identify key technology-based risks inherent in the commercial and operational aspects of AI and digital banking

  • Unit 4: Regulation of Digital Banking 

Unit 4 teaches the learner about the scope and impact of digital technology regulation in banking. Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to assess the scope and impact of regulation of digital and AI technology in banking, and digital and AI banking professional and ethical considerations.
